I know that the US are getting hit by insane amounts of snow and ice right now. So remember to always get the frozen stuff off your windshield before setting off! The 26-year old driver of this Golf was too lazy to scrape the ice off his windshield, and hit a pedestrian who was crossing the street in Linden, Germany, yesterday. The 71 year old pedestrian was injured and rushed to hospital.
He couldn't see much of what was going on behind his vehicle either.
Also, if, like me, you are too lazy to scrape the ice off, use one of those alcohol-based de-icer sprays. They dissolve it in seconds. The only downside is that they make you and your car smell like what I imagine moonshine to smell like.

It takes but a minute to scrape ice off of your windows. It's not hard to do.

I recently started using a leaf blower to clean off the (fresh dry powder only) snow off my car when it's been covered by the stuff sitting on my driveway. It works wonders, and I don't have to worry about scratching anything.

That's an awesome idea, but if I did that in my neighborhood on work mornings... I think I might get my ass kicked

I'm not sure how noisy an electric one is, but it should probably be quiet enough compared to a gas engine one. You'd also need a power cord and at that point any time savings is probably gone.

"...use one of those alcohol-based de-icer sprays."
Cop - (sniffs) "Have you been drinking tonight, sir?"
You - "I haven't, but the car has!"
Cop - "Excuse me?"
You - "Uh, well, you see, there's this alcoholic de-icer...."
Cop - "Sir, please step out of the vehicle."

Yep, that's the downside.
For some weird reason all of them leak a little if you don't store them dead upright. Which is what I do. But as soon as you use them, they squirt all over your hands.
